Pasture cropping is an innovative farming system developed by farmers in high-medium rainfall zones, combining cropping and grazing into a single management system by oversowing winter crops directly into summer growing perennial pastures.
This project focuses on cropping into native and naturalised pastures with the objectives of refining the agronomy of pasture cropping, evaluating the potential for extension of the approach to areas with lower rainfall, and assessing the economic benefits relative to alternative systems.
The project is supported by the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries.
