This project aims to provide landholders with a better appreciation of the implications of various decision options on the base resources, both on-farm and at the landscape/catchment level. It will enable improvements in long-term sustainability and viability of their enterprises.
An important element of the project will be the development of tools and approaches to analyse the triple bottom line consequences of particular land use options and examine the advantages and disadvantages of integrating cropping and livestock enterprises.
The project will also examine factors signalling the need for land use change and management of native vegetation for production and biodiversity (in particular native pastures and woody regrowth).
This project is supported by the Queensland Department of Primary Industries & Fisheries, Queensland Murray Darling Committee Inc, Queensland Natural Resources, Mines and Water, CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems, University of Queensland, Landmark, B&W Rural supplies and farmers in the region.
