Eyre Peninsula, SA

Project contact: Alison Frischke, phone (08) 8680 6223, email frischke.alison@saugov.gov.au

This project aims to identify the issues affecting mixed farming systems and the barriers to adoption of best practice techniques.

The findings will help enable research, development and extension activities to focus on the specific issues that will have the most impact on the triple bottom line and the long-term sustainability of Eyre Peninsula enterprises.

The project collaborates with the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) Eyre Peninsula Farming Systems Project annual audit and will produce:
 a database of past research to establish baselines for further work;
 a survey of the knowledge, skills, attitudes and aspirations of the farming community; and
 a risk assessment of adoption of new research outcomes.

Agricultural Bureau and farm improvement/no-till groups, the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI), Rural Solutions SA (Eyre Peninsula), the Eyre Peninsula Farming Systems Project, Sustainable Agriculture and local agricultural consultants are involved in the project.
