Sub tropical perennials in the Northern Ag Region

More than 60 producers braved gale force winds on March 31 for a field day at Eneabba which showcased some very good stands of subtropical perennial grasses. There was much interest in the machinery as well as presentations indoors later that highlighted three years worth of grazing data from two of the demo farmers in the region.

Perennial grasses and fodder shrubs have benefited from summer thunderstorms. Many producers had good falls in December (harvest time!), with patchy falls in January and more widespread rain in February. Producers and researchers from the region came together on April 10 & 11 to review research findings and discuss how best to get these findings adopted and highlight industry opportunities.
